I went to an event where some linguists gathered and enjoyed conversations having a cup of coffee.
(It was a casual one, far from academic thing. :)
I sat with a Korean girl who came to Japan to study in a graduate colledge in my town.
There were also two Japanese young men, one of them had been in China for studying and business, and the other guy has been to Vancouver, Canada as a working holiday-maker.
We enjoyed talking about differences and similarities between Japanese, Korean and Chinese grammer.
As the Korean girl studies Japanese, we talked in Japanese and English, mixing both.
Of course her English was perfect, and furthermore, I was impressed by her fluent Japanese!
I found that her Japanese is not perfect but sounds fluent.
Then I noticed that, as Steve says, I do not need to aim to speak perfect English. Yes!!
When the event finished, it goes without saying that I became eager to master one more language!!
Dear my Linguist tutors and friends.
Now I came back to here and the Linguist!
I will tell you the reason why it took me such a long time away from the Linguist world.
Here is what happened.
I found that I got pregnant in late September, and after a fleeting joy, I got hospitalized because of hyperemesis ( which means a baaaaad morning sickness!!).
Cannot you imagine how it is like? Ok, imagine that you wrestle with a dreadful hangover everyday!
I had been in a hospital for two months.
It was impossible for me to think about studying English or even reading printed words.
Finally, I think I escaped from the hell in the past few weeks.
I am in 27 weeks pregnant, 3 more days till the last trimester of pregnancy.
(My due date will be in late May.)
However, my baby in my belly has grown well.
The doctor said, it is probably a baby girl.
Her current weight is about 1100 grams, which is about the same weight as an cabbage. LOL
She moves a lot in my belly and her kicks are getting stronger day by day.
I am looking forward to seeing her !
Until I will go to my husband's parents' house to prepare my due, I want to enjoy studying English at The Linguist!
